Statement of purpose

Moonstone Lodge is a modern and spacious detached children’s home situated in Great Barr, Birmingham. The home accommodates up to 8 children of any gender, aged 8 to 17 on admission. Moonstone Lodge specialises in complex mental health needs and associated challenging behaviours. Our multidisciplinary team offers comprehensive, personalised care plans addressing mental health, educational, and social needs. Moonstone Lodge is committed to helping children develop the skills and confidence needed for a successful transition to adulthood.


Our vision at Moonstone Lodge is to provide the highest possible level of care to all children residing in the home, promoting a homely, relaxed, and nurturing environment. We encourage the development of academic, practical, social, and daily living skills, helping children transition from childhood into adulthood and fulfilling their own individual potential. The home creates an environment that offers a range of experiences and support mechanisms, allowing children to thrive.

Moonstone Lodge is a large, purpose-built, ten-bedroomed detached house with excellent external space, including a front garden, substantial drive, and larger back garden. The house is situated in a private cul-de-sac opposite a church. The environment has been recently modernised to an excellent standard, providing a homely atmosphere with plans to improve the overall downstairs layout of the home.


Facilities:


Ground Floor: Two lounges, two dining rooms, two smaller lounges, two small laundry/storage rooms, two spacious kitchens, and a large conservatory with a TV, games console, cross-trainer, and Foosball table.

First Floor: Ten bedrooms in total (seven used for children), two offices for waking nights, one sleep-in room, four en-suite bedrooms, and two fully equipped anti-ligature bathrooms. Some rooms have anti-barricade and anti-ligature doors fitted.

• Separate manager/staff office and external meeting room available.

• The home is kept clean and tidy by staff following an effective cleaning rota, with children encouraged to assist. Maintenance and redecoration are completed as necessary.
